I don't know if I misunderstood what you wrote, but it appears that you were talking about torsion of the crankshaft? It was my understanding that the issue with removing the dampener from the pulley is undamped traverse harmonics of the crankshaft. The traverse motion of the crank is an independent degree of freedom from torsion of the crank, and I would think the first traverse harmonic would be the one to be concerned about.
